The founder
Dutch-Egyptian creator Tamara el Tohamy has been making things since she was a child, self-taught in all of it, from designing and building online to starting her first blog at eight years old. Fashion, streetwear most of all, was always how she expressed herself. With her eye for style and a real presence online, Tamara turned that lifelong passion into a brand, founding Diversity Modest to share it with women everywhere. She builds it alongside her husband Anis, and around it a growing community of women who are as stylish as they are sure of who they are.
The why
Fashion was always tied to her identity. When she decided to wear the hijab in 2022, that changed overnight. The streetwear she loved no longer worked, and for years she struggled to find pieces that matched her style and her values at the same time. Eventually she stopped choosing between the two and started designing what she actually wanted to wear: the Western style she grew up on, made modest, with nothing sacrificed. She built Diversity Modest for a younger generation of women who want to cover without dressing like the one before them, hoping they would feel seen. The goal was never to make modesty a niche. It was to make fashion, as a whole, more modest.
